Parts on the bench in front of the Tundra 3D print farm

Custom Design & Fabrication

Engineering design and in-house fabrication, from a single bracket to a production batch.

Tundra 3D designs and builds custom parts and systems: optical instruments, trade show demo systems, accessibility equipment, enclosures, fixtures and prototypes. We start with how the thing will be used, design it in CAD, then build it in-house in engineering-grade materials.

What We Build

Optical Instruments

Telescopes, focusers, camera and lens mounts, designed for precision and repeatability.

Trade Show & Demo Systems

Live demonstrations built around your product, designed to ship, set up fast and survive the show circuit.

Accessibility Equipment

Mobility and accessibility hardware, designed from lived experience and tested in the real world.

Enclosures & Fixtures

Housings, brackets, jigs and test fixtures that fit your hardware the first time.

Functional Prototypes

Parts in ABS, ASA, ASA-CF, polycarbonate and nylon, made to be tested, not just looked at.

Small-Batch Production

From one-offs to dozens of identical assemblies, with build manuals so your team can assemble and maintain them.

30 Telescopes for Young Galileos

Thirty Skyward 200s for the Hamilton RASC's youth astronomy program: about 180 kg of printed parts, 6 kg per telescope. A crew of volunteers assembled them using the 150-page build manual we wrote for the design.

HevOrange printer with orange and black frame printing a large yellow ABS part

Machine design · Large format

HevOrange: A Custom Large-Format Printer

Part HevORT, mostly mad science: a custom extruder pairing a Bondtech QR-M with a liquid-cooled Mosquito Magnum+ for 2.85 mm filament, reverse-convection ventilation and an insulated enclosure. Built to print big ABS parts, like 2.5 kg telescope components. Its lessons went into the five printers we built next.

Accessibility · Electric mobility

Off-Road Wheelchairs

Several generations of electric off-road wheelchairs, from drive units that clip onto an everyday manual chair to complete four-wheel chairs. Hub motors, suspension, tuned motor controllers and printed and carbon-fibre bodywork, designed from lived experience and tested by riders on grass, trails and snow.

Why Work With Us

  • Application first. Understanding how your hardware is used is how we get it right the first time.
  • You approve it in CAD. The complete design is reviewed with you before a single part is made.
  • Precision experience. Years of designing telescopes and optical mounts, so cameras, lenses and fine adjustments are in good hands.
  • Made in-house. Printed on our own farm in the same engineering-grade filaments we sell, and assembled on our bench in Guelph.
  • Built to last. Modular construction, standard hardware and reprintable parts, easy to service and repair.

How It Works

You provideYour idea or hardware, any CAD or drawings, and your deadline.
We deliverCAD design reviews before anything is made, progress updates throughout, and finished parts or systems ready to use.
Typical timeline4 to 6 weeks for most projects, depending on scope. Tighter deadlines are possible.
